Man arrested for car-jacking at Merced Jack in the Box, police say

A man was taken into custody after car-jacking a vehicle at Jack in the Box in Merced.

Officers responded Wednesday, to Jack in the Box on West Olive Avenue for reports of a car-jacking at around 11:08 a.m., police say.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who was in the drive-thru at the time of the incident, the victim stated while she was waiting for her food, a man broke her passenger side window with a hammer. The suspect entered the vehicle and ordered the victim to drive.

The victim tried to exit the vehicle with the keys, however, the suspect grabbed the keys from her and jumped into the driver’s seat.

The suspect drove away and was last seen Northbound on M Street the victim told officers.

A short time later, CHP in Atwater reported to Merced Police officers that they had the vehicle and 25-year-old suspect Salvador Chavez-Gonzalez in custody at the CHP station.

Police say, Chavez-Gonzalez had driven to the intersection of Applegate Road and Commerce Avenue where he was observed doing doughnuts in the intersection, he then drove up on the lawn of the CHP station directly at an officer who had to step out of the way of the vehicle.

Police say, Salvador jumped out of the vehicle and yelled, ”I just stole this car and I’m on Meth.” Chavez-Gonzalez was taken into custody by CHP for DUI and attempted assault on an officer.

Chavez-Gonzalez was identified by the victim and charges of Car-Jacking, Robbery and Auto Theft were added by Merced PD. Chavez-Gonzalez was booked at Merced County Jail.

    He did doughnuts? This dude stupid as fuck. California laws needs to be strict like texas (not with marijuana)
