A 58-year-old man was arrested, he is being accused of hitting his neighbor with a wooden object, police say.

Officers arrested 58-year-old Michael Mojica for felony assault after striking his neighbor in the back of the head with a wooden object.

On Thursday night, officers responded to the Merced Estates Mobile Home Park for reports of an assault. The 62-year-old victim sustained a two-inch cut on the back of the head.

Officers learned the victim was attacked in the darkness near the porch of his mobile home. The victim identified Mojica as the attacker and said he was struck with a wooden object over the back of his head.

The victim’s injury was consistent with blunt force trauma. He was not seriously injured.

Mojica was contacted at his residence and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into custody at the Merced County Jail.
