LE GRAND ELEMENTARY STUDENT, ARRESTED FOR MAKING THREATS

A teenager from Le Grand Elementary School was arrested after making threats to “shoot up the school”. On March 2, 2018 around 1:00pm, Deputy LaMattina from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Le Grand Elementary School in Le Grand in regards to threats to the school. During the course of his investigation, Deputy LaMattina learned a 13-year-old student had made several threats in reference to “shooting up the school”. These threats have been made in the span of several months and as recent as of Thursday (March 1, 2018). The school staff was made aware of the threats and immediately notified the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit assisted Deputy LaMattina with the interviews of students and was able to corroborate the stories and subsequently, the 13-year-old male Juvenile who arrested for Felony Threats and booked into to the Iris Garrett Juvenile Center.

This case is still an ongoing investigation.
