On July 3rd, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Merced Fire Department along with officers from the Merced Police Department responded to 3033 G Street for a report of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed what appeared to be a shed in the back of the property on fire.
Battalion Chief on the scene said, “we had to install several hoses from the fire hydrant located in the front of the building to contain the fire, a small palm tree in the back of the property was also on fire.

Battalion chief also stated to Merced Gateway News, “It appears homeless people were staying inside the shed before it went up in flames, we received several calls from tenants of a nearby apartment complex”.
The fire remains under investigation, no injuries or arrests were reported at that time.
