Atwater Anberry Rehabilitation Center evacuated after fire breaks out

Several patients and staff were evacuated last night from Atwater Anberry Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Cal-Fire responded on August 31st, 2019, at approximately 9:48 p.m., to 1685 Shaffer Road for a fire that was reported in the Laundry room at the facility.

The facility was evacuated, no injuries or medical issues were reported at that time according to Cal-fire Captain James.

Fire Captain James also stated, the fire sprinkler system did activate while units were responding.

“The fire was contained at approximately 10:06 p.m. and controlled by midnight,” James told Merced Gateway News over the phone.

No estimate on the damages was immediately available.
