A Body was found buried in the backyard of a home

Modesto CA – Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a possible homicide after a body was discovered buried in the backyard of a home on the 100 block of Santa Rita in Modesto on Saturday afternoon on November 24th, 2018.

Just before 3:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the home when a resident called in to report that they may have found human remains buried in the backyard. The resident was digging a hole to bury a pet that had recently died when they uncovered the remains. When deputies arrived, they confirmed that the remains were human and detectives were called out to the scene.

Detectives worked throughout the evening to exhume the decomposing body. Detectives have not yet been able to identify the victim and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
