A big rig carrying Cattle Overturns on Highway 152 near Los Banos

On January 30th, 2019, at approximately 1:18 p.m. California highway patrol (Los Banos office) responded to investigate an overturned big rig on Eastbound Highway 152 at the I5 off-ramp. Upon arrival, CHP advised eastbound lanes on state route 152 blocked.

The driver 31-year-old Jamal Omes out of San Francisco exited the I5 south off-ramp to highway 152 at an unsafe speed failing to negotiate the curve of the off-ramp, causing to overturn and block eastbound lanes on 152. Omer sustained minor injuries to his arms and nose, Omer was wearing his seatbelt according to CHP.

The trailer was loaded with cattle, the truck was uplifted and appeared that all cattle are uninjured. According to the officer on the scene, some of the cattle remained laying down. The trailer was taken to an undisclosed location to offload and check all the cattle for any injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this collision. The collision remains under investigation.
