Merced Police Chase ends with one suspect at gunpoint

On June 17th, 2019, at approximately 12:16 a.m. a Merced Police officer was involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

The chase started in the area of G street and 26th street, the pursuit lasted about four minutes and ended at the intersections of M street and Lehigh Drive.

The stolen Honda went over the center divider at the intersection causing damage to the concrete.

The driver and passenger leg-bailed from officers into an open field in the area.

One of the suspects was immediately detained, the other was held at gunpoint and arrested shortly.

The driver 18-year-old Frank Menchaca was booked into the Merced County Jail on the following charges, posession of a stolen vehicle, DUI, evade officers and delay- resist officers.

The passenger has not been booked into jail, possibly a juvenile.

No injuries were reported.
