6-8 hour Newborn infant girl found in a Madera road

On February 11, 2019, just before 4:30am, Madera County Sheriff’s Corporal Chris Williams responded to a call for service for a reported abandoned infant in the roadway in the 35000 block of Avenue 13 ½ in Madera.

Upon arrival at the scene, Corporal Williams met with California Highway Patrol Officers who reported that they had been dispatched to the location after receiving a 911 call for a found infant in the middle of the road. The baby was found alive, was transported by ambulance to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment. The infant, an hours-old female, is currently being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at VCH.

Detectives are trying to identify the suspect at this time. She is described by witnesses as a Hispanic female adult, possibly in her early 20’s. Her physical description is unknown. She left the scene in a small white SUV of unknown make or model.
