On December 11, 2022, at approximately 7:42 P.M., Merced Police responded to a residence in the 3300 block of Olympia Court for a gunshot victim. Officers located a 40-year-old Merced man who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives responded and took over the investigation. Few details have emerged about where the shooting took place. It appears the victim was shot somewhere in the Loughborough Drive area and he stumbled to a friend’s residence for help.

Detectives are still conducting a thorough canvass of the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation remains ongoing, and no suspects have been identified.
