17-year-old juvenile leads Merced Police on High-speed chase

Merced Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile driver after leading officers on a high-speed chase in Merced.

An officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of 11th and R streets at approximately 7:25 p.m., today, the Merced police department said.

The driver refused to stop and attempted to evade the officer at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour. The driver also ran a stop sign at Childs and Q Street and the vehicle was disabled after striking a fence.

The driver, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was arrested for felony evading, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and driving without a license, he was released to the custody of his parents.

The passenger, also a juvenile was released to his parents for having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

According to Merced Police, 22-year-old Nestor Bremes was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
