Following consultation with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Merced County District Attorney’s Office issues the following statement:

The Merced District Attorney’s office has become aware that homemade, unregulated cheese containing salmonella has recently been sold in Merced County over the Facebook Marketplace.

At this time, they are currently unaware of any reports of salmonella poisoning as a part of this investigation, officials urge consumers to use caution when purchasing cheese from unregulated or unreliable sources.
