Two Merced Gang members arrested

On April 6, 2019, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) Officers developed information that 31-year-old Johnny Cardenas was in possession of a firearm.

Officers located Cardenas and 24-year-old Eduardo Munoz at a home in the 1400 blk of Stretch in Merced. Officers searched the residence and located a Smith & Wesson 40cal, a Kahr .380cal, a Savage Arms 12 ga sawed-off shotgun, a Derringer .22cal and ammunition. Cardenas is prohibited from possessing any firearms and/or ammunition.

Cardenas and Munoz were arrested and booked at the Merced County jail for being a prohibited person in possession of firearms, prohibited person in possession of ammunition and gang enhancements.
