Two men arrested on burglary charges for breaking into businesses in Merced

Merced Police officers arrested two men early this morning on burglary charges.

Officers responded to 230 West Main Street at approximately 5:30 a.m., today, for a report of a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, officers located damage in the back area of Auto Resources car dealership. The officers could hear a loud banging and made their way down the ally.

Officers located two men at the back door to Main Street tattoo and watched as the suspects were trying to pry open the door to the business. Both suspects were arrested for the attempted burglary of Main Street Tattoo.

Officers were able to make contact with the owner of Auto Resources. The owner arrived and identified property stolen from his business. The suspects were also arrested for the burglary to Auto Resources.

It appeared that the suspects may have victimized other businesses in the area, however, officer’s were not able to make contact with the owners.

The suspects arrested were identified as 28-year-old Edmond Mathis III, and 39-year-old Teone Tyler both were arrested for commercial burglary.
