On November 9th, 2018, at approximately 7:40 p.m., The City of Merced Fire Department received a call of a structure fire at the UA Regency Theater located at 635 Fairfield Drive. The first fire engine to arrive on the scene found no smoke showing from the exterior of the structure, after making contact with the theater manager light smoke was found inside the building.

The building then was evacuated and firefighters began to pull wall off the rear of the structure to get access to the interior wall studs.
