Small plane crashes on southbound highway 99, this is what CHP said

On September 27th, 2019, at approximately 7:48 p.m., a small aircraft crashed in the
southbound lanes of Highway 99 at Crows Landing Road in Modesto.

The small Single-engine Piper Dakota plane caught on fire just seconds after the pilot got out.

According to CHP, the pilot was only identified as a 59-year-old male from Santa Cruz.

The pilot walked away and only received minor injuries, he’s expected to be okay CHP said.

Southbound 99 traffic was a nightmare, including some roads throughout downtown Modesto.

The cause for this emergency landing is under investigation. No vehicles got hit according to CHP.
