The Merced police department responded to the area of G street and 13 street for a shooting victim when officers were responding to the call they were advised of a 10-year-old possibly also shot on East 9th Street.

Upon arrival, officers said the 10-year-old was not shot and he had just seen the shooting. We have not confirmed that to be true at this time.

The African American man who was shot was taken to a local hospital.

Officers are on East 9th and D street investigating.

At this time it appears just a male adult was actually hit by gunfire.
