A fire destroyed a school bus garage in Hilmar Wednesday night.

Local and surrounding fire departments responded to 20300 Geer Avenue for reports of a fire at the Hilmar school transportation department at around 9:00 p.m.

When firefighters and authorities arrived at the scene, the bus garage was engulfed in flames and damaged five buses and some other school vehicles, the Hilmar school district said.

Parents were notified that transportation was canceled for Thursday and Friday, the school district plans on notifying parents regarding transportation for the following weeks once more information becomes available.

No injuries were reported, the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with any information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Hilmar Fire Department at 209-634-7070.
