POLICE VEHICLE CRASHED AFTER CHASE, OFFICER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

At about 2:30 p.m. yesterday, a victim reported a burglary at his home on Ironside Drive in southwest Modesto. The victim’s truck was taken from the garage, along with a handgun and miscellaneous property from inside the home.

Stanislaus County Probation quickly identified the three male teens involved through photographs and officers began a search for the suspects. One of the teens, 15 years old, was taken into custody on Lynne Renee Court several hours after the burglary. He was booked into Juvenile Hall for burglary and conspiracy.

Early this morning, officers found the victim’s stolen truck in a southwest neighborhood and attempted a traffic stop. A short pursuit ensued after the driver failed to pull over and concluded when the truck collided with a patrol car.

A search perimeter was established after the suspects inside the truck fled from the collision scene on foot. Alberto Bautista, 19, who was identified as one of the suspects involved in the burglary and truck theft, was stopped in the area by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Bautista was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for burglary, auto theft and conspiracy.

The third suspect, 17 years old, is still outstanding. The sergeant involved in the collision suffered minor injuries.
