Police arrest two men for armed robbery, assault with deadly weapon and gang enhancement

On May 6, 2020, at 12:46 a.m., the Merced Police Department was called to 134 South Canal Street for a report of an armed robbery.

Officers responded to the area and surrounded the house. 25-year-old Johnathon Breckinridge and 19-year-old Fabian Garcia were located on the property and were taken into custody.

The victim stated that the suspects were armed and had fired a handgun during the incident. The victim was able to flee the house without injury. MPD detectives responded to the scene along with the MPD Crime Scene Response Team to investigate.

Garcia and Breckinridge were booked into the Merced County Jail for several offenses including armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and gang enhancements. The investigation is ongoing.
