Planada Sureno gang members arrested, Gun found in sock

On October 25, 2018, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit
(GVSU) developed information that gang members living in the 9100 block of Latham
Road in Planada had firearms.

GVSU officers responded to Planada where they
contacted gang member Salvador Estrada who threw a sock behind him. Officers
searched the sock and located a loaded revolver in the sock he threw. Officers contacted
gang member Jorge Estrada at the home and searched his bedroom.

During the search, officers located a stolen handgun in his bedroom. Both gang members were arrested and booked at the jail for weapons charges and gang enhancements.
