Merced Police Department has released a photo of the responsible for leaving the scene of a homicide.

On June 16, 2021, at  approximately 9:27 P.M., Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 900 blk of “D” Street.

When officers arrived, they located 22-year-old Betty Ann Choates from Seaside suffering with gunshot wounds.

Police say she was flown to a Modesto hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Detectives were able to locate video surveillance of a vehicle fleeing the area after the shooting.

The vehicle was described as a newer (possibly 2015), white, slightly lifted Chevrolet truck.

The vehicle may also have been struck by gunfire during this incident. Detectives are requesting assistance from the public in an attempt to locate this vehicle and its owner.
