On July 3, 2020, at approximately 12:14 a.m.,Officer Chavez was on foot in the area of South “N” Street near Amanda Court, after receiving reports of illegal fireworks being set off in the area.
While on foot Officer Chavez saw 22-year-old Jose Gomez drop two subjects off in the area, these subjects set off two Mortar fireworks. After setting the mortars off, the two subjects walked towards Gomez’s vehicle. When they saw Officer Chavez’s vehicle the subjects ran off.
Officer Chavez contacted Gomez who had illegal mortar style fireworks in the back seat of his vehicle. Gomez was arrested for being in possession of illegal fireworks. The fireworks were confiscated. Gomez was cited and released for being in possession of illegal fireworks.

Haha 🤣 those weren’t my fireworks, they where going to set them off either way. I just took them to the middle of the field where they weren’t going to burn down a house. I smiled and laughed in the picture because I never touched the fireworks. I didn’t want anything to do with it but I also didn’t want them burning down a home. That’s why i didn’t run anywhere, I cooperated with officer Chavez. The only reason he caught us doing the fireworks out in the middle of the dirt field was because OFFICER CHAVEZ WAS TAKING A PISS OUT IN PUBLIC.
