On January 9th, 2019, just before noon Merced Police animal control responded to a stranded dog at Bear Creek and the R Street overcrossing. The dog was in the middle of the creek on a concrete obstruction wet and cold.

With the work of the Merced City Fire Department they were able to enter the creek and rescue the dog.
