Merced police are investigating a shooting in North Merced that happened Sunday night.

Officers responded to the 3200 Block of Denver Avenue at around 9:35 for reports of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say witnesses described a confrontation that occurred just before the shooting.

No suspects have been identified at this time. The victim was transported to an out-of-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
