A man was arrested for being in possession of a loaded firearm after he was seen on surveillance video leaving it inside a trashcan outside the sheriff’s office.
Detectives say 38-year-old James Douglas Glidden of Merced walked into the Merced County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to speak to detectives about a possible crime.
Before entering the Sheriff’s office, James was seen on video throwing a firearm into the trashcan just outside the front door.
Detectives looked in the trashcan while he was inside and found a loaded revolver.
James was booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm and felon in possession of ammunition.
