On June 25, 2020, at 12:41 A.M., Merced Police Department officers responded to the area of West 11th & G Street for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived and located an adult male who had been shot. The adult male was pronounced deceased on scene.

Shortly after the call, Merced Police Detectives responded to the scene. Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the shooting as Juan Carreno of Merced.

Carreno was later arrested in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Way. Carreno was interviewed by detectives and later booked into the county jail for murder.
