Man arrested after stabbing a man, a woman was also threatened police say

A man was arrested by Merced Police Officers Friday night on charges of aggravated assault, criminal threats, and brandishing a deadly weapon.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Main Street at approximately 8:47 p.m., for a report of a man stabbed, shortly after dispatch received a second call of a possible female victim.

Officers located the female victim in the 1600 block of T Street and did not have any injuries.

Officers learned that the female had been threatened by the male subject with a knife. As officers were speaking with the female they were approached by a male who had a stab wound to his hand.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and found 61-year-old Arthur Aguilar walking in the area.

Arthur’s clothing description matched and was also carrying a bloody knife when he was contacted by officers, the Merced Police Department said.

Aguilar was identified by both victims and witnesses as the person responsible for the stabbing.
