Atwater Police respond to 2-year-old child drowning, this is what police say

Atwater police say they responded to a call of a 2-year-old drowning on Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the On 9/12/2022 at 3000 block of Sowell Street at around 5:00 after receiving a 911 call.

When officers arrived, they located a 2-year-old child unresponsive and no pulse.

Officers performed life-saving measures fortunately officers were able to revive the child.

The child was transported to a local hospital by Riggs Ambulance, his condition remains unknown.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that the incident was an accidental drowning, and no charges are pending, Atwater Police Chief Salvador said.

The Police Department wishes to stress that even though the summer swimming season is coming to a close, it’s important for pool owners to practice pool safety, teach children to swim and make sure that access to pools are controlled by alarms and physical barriers.
