68-year-old man arrested for hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene

On January 31st, 2019, at approximately 6:35 a.m., the Merced Police Department responded to the area of West 13th and R Streets for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

The suspected vehicle left the scene and was described as a dark-colored older truck. The 50-year-old pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Through the investigation, Officer Arias was able to locate the involved vehicle two hours later in the 1900 block of East Childs Avenue in Merced.

The owner of the truck was identified as 68-year-old Larry Queen. Queen admitted to driving the vehicle when he struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

Queen was arrested and booked for the felony charge of fleeing an accident scene after causing injury.
