Merced Police say 21-year-old Trevor Thomas Jr. was arrested for weapons-related charges at a community carnival.

Officers responded to the Merced County fair Carnival Friday Night just before 11:00 for a large disturbance involving numerous people.

When officers arrived, They were alerted of a person inside the carnival that had a firearm.

Thomas was contacted by officers and a search revealed he had a loaded 9mm semi-automatic firearm. He was arrested for illegal possession of a loaded firearm in public. The firearm was a non-serialized polymer 80 handgun.

According to witnesses, Thomas revealed he had a firearm around the same time that a fight broke out near the entrance. Thomas was not directly connected to the original disturbance officers responded to.

The illegal firearm was seized as evidence and Thomas was arrested.
