Smart & Final, the smaller, faster grocery warehouse store for household and business customers, will be opening its doors at 7:00 a.m. June 24, 2020, at the Turlock Town Center.
The brand-new grocery store is the first Smart & Final store in Turlock, joining a Smart & Final Distribution Center that opened in Turlock in 2013, and nearby stores in Merced and Modesto.
Located at 651 North Golden State Blvd., the 29,680-square-foot Smart & Final Extra! will provide shoppers with high-quality USDA-certified meats, fresh produce, organics, frozen and packaged grocery items, as well as personal care and household products.
“We’re excited to provide a one-stop-shop with club size and household goods to the businesses and residents of Turlock with this brand new Smart & Final Extra! store,” said Sergio Contreras, Store Manager of the new Smart & Final location. “We know many were commuting to nearby Merced and Modesto to shop at our stores, and we’re looking forward to serving the community of Turlock for many years to come.”

In celebration of the grand opening, Smart & Final is sponsoring events in Turlock as part of its Project Feed First Responders program, a COVID-19 relief effort designed to take care of those who are taking care of us.
Local restaurants Mundo’s Latin Grill and Main Street Footers will cater and deliver meals to first responders and medical staff at Emanuel Medical Center, Turlock Fire Department Administration and four local fire stations.
Additionally, the Smart & Final Charitable Foundation will be donating to two local based charities focused on food insecurity in Stanislaus County – Cal State Stanislaus Warrior Food Pantry and United Samaritans Foundation. The donations are part of Smart & Final’s commitment to supporting organizations and causes in the communities where it operates.
The store will open with Smart & Final’s industry leading safety standards for COVID-19 in place, which include a single-line queuing system and signage to accommodate social distancing, required face coverings for all customers and associates, two 36-inch plexiglass barriers at all registers, extensive cleanings at the top of every hour, providing gloves for associates, and adhering to government standards for limiting occupancy.
Additionally, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. is reserved for shoppers 60 years and older, expectant mothers, those with disabilities, and first responders in the medical field.
Customers are welcome to bring their own reusable bags as long as they bag their items themselves in order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Smart & Final is offering single-use bags free of charge.
