On April 18th, 2020, at approximately 7:32 a.m., Merced Police officers responded to the 800 block of West 12th Street regarding shots being fired and a fight.
When officers arrived on scene, they observed four Hispanic males and one Hispanic female outside of the residence. All five suspects ran through the house to the backyard. Officers gave chase and were able to apprehend four of the five suspects.
During the investigation, the suspects were identified as Rafael Patino (18), Marcos Calvario (19), Damien Coronado (18), and Alexandra Saiz (20). The fifth suspect who ran from officers was not located. Three of the four suspects are validated gang members within the City of Merced.
While on scene, officers located a stolen and loaded .38 caliber revolver on Damien Coronado. A search warrant was authored by Officer C. Lupian for the residence and vehicles belonging to the residence.
While searching the house and vehicles, a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-auto handgun was located. This firearm had the serial numbers removed. Numerous 9mm cartridges were located inside the residence.
The four suspects were booked at the Merced County Jail for a gang member in possession of a firearm, gang member in possession of ammunition, removing a serial number from a firearm, being in possession of stolen property, and gang enhancements.
