Merced Gang Member arrested for attempted murder

On May 27, 2019, Merced Police officers responded to the 200 block of East 11th Street for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, they found an occupied residence had been struck multiple times by gunfire.

In addition to evidence located inside the residence, officers located several spent shell casings in the roadway in front of the victim’s home.

Shortly after the shooting, MPD Detectives Pinnegar and Salyers began to follow up on the case.

Detectives learned the shooting was gang related and they identified a suspect, 19-year-old Kayluv Sanchez.

On July 23, 2019, an arrest warrant for attempted murder was issued for Sanchez.

Sanchez was arrested a few days later by probation officers according to Jail records.

Sanchez was booked into Merced County Jail on the warrant.
