On August 1, 2019, at approximately 9:42 PM. the Merced Police Department received several calls of shots fired at Glen Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue near Hoover Middle School.
When officers arrived in the area, they were directed to an apartment in the 2500 block of Glen Ave.
Officers located two victims suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
A 47-year-old male and a 22-year-old female were transported to an out of area trauma center.
Both victims are currently in stable condition according to Sergeant Jay Struble.
Merced Police Department Detectives and Crime Scene Response Team responded to the scene of further investigation.
Detectives were given a vague description of the possible suspect. The description detectives received was that a Hispanic male, wearing a red bandana over his face was the responsible in the shooting.
Merced Police Detectives are actively working on this case and it is early to determine if the shooting was gang-related.
